Sketches in Clay and Pencil
"Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your
soul grow, for heaven's sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio.
Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well
as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have
created something.” ―Kurt Vonnegut

I love your sketch, i love the eye! Beautiful! Pink toes is lovely, too! : )
ReplyDeleteThank you, Midori. Pink Toes was so fun to make, especially the pink cowboy boot.
DeleteDo you sketch most mornings? Love the pensive look of her - and the detail. And Pink Toes is just fabulous - love her boots. The paintings on the back of your work - such a nice surprise . . .
ReplyDeleteThat Vonnegut quote is one of my favorites -- gets me in my studio on those procrastinating days.
Most mornings my routine follows this path---read a poem or passage out of a favorite book---grab my cheap mechanical pencil and do a cryptogram puzzle, Then with the same pencil--quick sketch for about 30 minutes while sipping on my cup of coffee.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful, and oh so inspiring quote. Thank you for posting it Charlene.
ReplyDeleteAnd, Pink Toes is enchanting. I really like her cowboy boot, though, I do adore her wee blue bird nestled on her right foot :)
You're welcome, Vicki. Practice one's art daily...a wonderful habit and way to live......
