fields of mustard greens with thoughts of sour grass
Last Friday we drove along Hwy 1 between Half Moon Bay and Bean Hollow State Beach. Stretches of the fallowed fields are covered with wild mustard in glorious bloom. Bright yellow swatches. Invasive to some. For others (including me) a wild and spicy treat. Sour grass is everywhere, too. Lemonade in chewy stalks.
One week later we have a dusting of snow on the high hills. All the hail and rain knocked off the flowers on the purple plum trees. It looks like pink snow.
Finally I will get back to clay next week.
