Ordinary Thoughts

Working on some 5" x 7" wall heads with "thinking" caps. They reflect what I am thinking while I am wedging recycled clay. So far it's Google wanting to trademark the word "glasses" and trying to make them fashionable. That's silly, but it did get on the news.  How about glasses that transmit good thoughts and see invisible magic disguised as the ordinary?

A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.

  1. Your work transforms the humble and ordinary (clay) into magic, Charlene.
We see the beautiful, because you shine.

  2. I think the quote from The Twits by Roald Dahl is so true. Your work definitely looks lovely probably because he reflects what you are thinking and because you shine and smile. Hmm. "invisible magic disguised as the ordinary". It sounds GREAT!

  3. Love this post -- 'glasses that transmit good thoughts' - wouldn't that be fabulous!
I was recently on jury duty with a guy who wore his google glasses constantly - very strange. But if those glasses showed me all the magic in the world --
Love these pieces and your thoughts while creating them - you do shine through your work - definitely magical!

    1. The ones that are formed completely around with just a hole in the back I call wall heads. I call the heads without a back I call masks. They have a wire across the back for hanging. It is just how I keep it all straight in my head :)

  5. I must be behind the times I don't even know what google glasses are. Ha.

I love the sentiments behind your work with the wall heads and glasses; I can almost feel good thoughts emanating from them

I just learned a tree I thought was a deciduous holly is a crab apple tree and it's almost in full bloom. When it started to bloom I thought of you and your tree.

    1. Oh, I bet it is glorious! Funny, I just found out a holly we have is really Oregon grape (Mahonia aquifolium.) I kept wondering why it had small purple berries and not red ;)
