Fidelity's Key and Happy New Year

Fidelity's Key
I do an awful lot of thinking and dreaming about things in the past and the future - the timelessness of the rocks and the hills - all the people who have existed there. I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show. ~ Andrew Wyeth

Happy New Year!

I'm back next week!

  1. Ahh, those words. Andrew Wyeth - he could be my kin! His "Master Bedroom" is a favourite of mine.

I too prefer the "loneliness" of autumn and winter.
The slumber. The something within. Nothing is ever truly dead. There is always an energy. Hidden. Waiting.

There is a touch of Wyeth in your beautifully haunting Fidelity, Charlene.

To me, it looks as though she cradles a swan to her. I see the lovely river reeds at her back.
Just as the swan symbolises love, grace and purity, the very name Fidelity reflects enduring faithfulness and loyalty.
For whom does she pledge her troth? Will she keep herself locked away?
Swans mate for life. Does Fidelity give herself, body and soul, to her one true love?

Your works are richly woven stories in themselves, Charlene! Each can, and will, be interpreted differently by the viewer.
I find a delicious fairytale in every piece you create.

Wishing you a happy, creatively fulfilling 2014, dear Charlene xx

    1. You have a way with words, Vicki. Thank you so much. Andrew Wyeth paintings are so hauntingly beautiful. That painting reflects a slice of life---a momentary feeling that encompasses an universal expression of need and desire. And of fidelity. Happy New Year!

    1. I love sneaking in a little painting that no one gets to see. A secret that I love to paint. Some pieces have a very large opening in the back that may have a little sculptural token that only the owner and gallery installer will know about when they go to hang the piece. Many happy returns for a year filled with paint splashes, mud and laughter, Judy!
